This workshop explores how digital tools can empower young learners to explore, create, and communicate in ethical and meaningful ways, laying the foundation for positive digital citizenship.
This 90-minute online workshop will guide educators through a hands-on exploration of multimodal creation using iPad—such as photography, voice recording, and digital storytelling—while embedding key digital citizenship practices like privacy, consent, and respectful online interactions.
Participants will:
Understand how digital literacy supports the development of digital citizenship in early learning settings.
Engage in hands-on activities using iPad to explore storytelling, photography, and voice recording while reinforcing ethical technology practices.
Learn strategies for modelling privacy, consent, and respectful sharing practices with young learners.
Participants will leave this workshop with the confidence and resources to embed digital literacy and responsible technology use into everyday learning experiences.
This workshop aligns with the Queensland Kindergarten Learning Guidelines (Identity, Connectedness, Communicating) and the Early Years Learning Framework (Outcomes 1, 5), as well as drawing on the research and principles outlined in Early Childhood Australia’s Statement on Young Children and Digital Technologies.
